The fan-favorite superhero parody comic is BACK! Co-creators Dan Taylor and Chris Fason are returning to The Hideout Bar & Grill for more rounds of HERO HAPPY HOUR! Cheers!
Imagine pulling up a stool to the bar and sipping a frosty pint of your favorite beverage as you listen in on the conversations of the “regulars” that frequent the neighborhood tavern. But, this establishment is unlike any other bar. The Hideout Bar & Grill caters to the super heroes of First City. And, this watering hole serves as more than just a place to wash away the troubles of serving and protecting society as crime-fighting crusaders. For the regular heroes, it is “a place where everyone knows your name,” secret identity or not.
In 2001, at the Mid-Ohio Comic Book Convention (the then titled Super) Hero Happy Hour comic book made its auspicious debut. The following year, Super Hero Happy Hour landed on comic book store shelves as a Previews catalog Staff Pick. The comic book about “superheroes in a bar” continued to entertain readers with half a dozen more issues, as well as with a collected trade paperback, a super special featuring contributions by many established comic book professionals, a limited run webcomic, and two successful Kickstarters offering a full-color original graphic novel and a comic based on a story ripped from the headlines. Longtime fans are familiar with how the co-creators had to change the title of the comic (dropping the “Super“) to Hero Happy Hourwhen the “Big Two” comic book publishers felt threatened by the underdog that poked fun at superhero tropes.
Now Hero Happy Hour is returning as a webcomic with Patreon. Supporters will be able to enjoy a regularly scheduled webcomic featuring the superhero regulars of the Hideout Bar & Grill beginning with one weekly comic with the official launch April 1, 2019 (no foolin’) and increasing to twice weekly upon reaching our set patron goal. Eventually, we will offer a third weekly offering featuring a double-sized and in color Sunday edition (just like in the newspapers back in the good ol’ days). Additional Hero Happy Hour offerings (like behind-the-scenes features, original art, guest artists/writers, etc…) will be available to patrons at various tiers of support.
Leading up to the official launch of the new webcomic, you will receive behind a behind-the-scenes look at what we’re planning for the all-new Hero Happy Hour — new designs, new characters, new stories. Your support at this early moment in production not only shows that you want to see Hero Happy Hour return, but that you’re encouraging and inspiring our efforts to reopen the Hideout Bar & Grill. For your ONE DOLLAR pledge, you will be privy to exclusive previews and work-in-progress presentations leading up to the launch of the all-new Hero Happy Hour webcomic. Once the new comic launches, you will have access to the first webcomic of each week (along with the other patrons) a whole week before the rest of the world-wide-web. Sign up to support Hero Happy Hour now and you’ll be our superhero!
